A new effort will soon be underway to encourage political involvement among Latino millennial voters in Colorado.

Latino millennials comprise voters between 18- to 34-years-old who share Hispanic heritage. There are about 100,000 millennial voters in Colorado alone.

Hilda Nucete will vote for the first time this November. The 23-year-old Venezuelan immigrant is learning about the candidates by simply scanning her telephone screen.

"[I look at] Facebook, Instagram," said Nucete. "A lot of the comments are political comments, and even the discussions, everyone is getting super fired up," she said.

Now, there's a non-partisan statewide effort to help educate young Latino voters who depend on technology to get information. The group Generation Latino will soon use all forms of social media to prompt discussions surrounding the 2016 election.

"We'll be talking about all the different issues that are up in front of them in the coming elections and issues that affect them and their lives to make sure they have an opportunity to know what's going on and give them the opportunity to be engaged," said executive director Maria Handley.

A way to remind voters like Necete - their voice does matter.

"I think it's super exciting that I'm able to vote at such an incredible election like this year's presidential election," she said.
