Former Colorado Lt. Gov. Jane Norton will announce her candidacy for U.S. Senate in a series of visits to Denver, Colorado Springs and Grand Junction next week. Norton has filed federal campaign papers and set up a campaign Web site.According to a campaign e-mail, Norton will visit the Marriott hotel in the Tech Center at about 9 a.m. then head to Colorado Springs for a stop at the Antler's Hilton Hotel at about 11:15 a.m. before heading to Grand Junction.Norton will face a crowded pack of five other Republicans for the nomination to challenge freshman Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet. Norton was lieutenant governor under Republican Gov. Bill Owens from 2003 to 2007. She did not seek the governor's office after Owens' final term and is currently executive director of the Denver Police Foundation.
