DENVER - With Election Day less than a week away, data shows residents of the Denver metro area have donated $12.8 million directly to the presidential campaigns.
Campaign records collected by the Scripps Howard News Service show the $12,807,627.00 came in 71,268 donations from residents of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties. The amounts range from $1 to $5,000.
Americans have made more than 4 million individual contributions totaling $825 million. That is 700,000 donations and $108 million more than last week's report.
The numbers and total amounts of political donations in this presidential campaign are unprecedented in U.S. history.
Coloradans are also turning out to vote early in remarkable numbers. As of Oct. 31, almost one third of voters have already cast their ballots.
