Colorado GOP to bid for 2016 Republican National Convention

DENVER - The Colorado GOP plans to bid for Denver to host the 2016 Republican National Convention, 7NEWS confirmed Wednesday.

The news was first reported by our partners at The Denver Post.

Colorado Republican Chair Ryan Call tells reporter Marc Stewart his team will make a formal presentation in the months ahead.

He feels Denver will be a strong contender because of its ability to host large events like the 2012 Presidential Debate and the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

The Republican National Committee will likely make a decision by Fall 2014.
