DENVER – As the Denver Broncos and countless other professional sports teams say they support their players’ rights to kneel for the national anthem, a Colorado university is doing the opposite.

Colorado Christian University said Tuesday that “all athletes must stand for the national anthem & prayer” in a post it made to the Centennial Institute’s Facebook page.

“We respect our country, we respect our constitution, we respect our flag, we respect the men and women who serve and protect the greatest nation in the history of the world! #StandForOurAnthem,” the blurb on the photo post said.

Colorado Christian is a Division II school that promotes Christian values.

On its website, CCU says its athletics department’s philosophy is: “At Colorado Christian University, athletes will be given the opportunity, support & training to know God personally, and to make Him known by the way in which they live their lives both inside and outside of the athletic arenas in which they compete.”
