DENVER -- Colorado Unaffiliated voters could get a bigger voice in determining how Colorado’s congressional and legislative districts are redrawn after the next census.

“We’re putting a proposal on the ballot for 2018,” Toni Larson of the League of Women Voters told Anne Trujillo on this week’s Politics Unplugged. “We’re trying to make it an even split and non-partisan proposal, which is difficult when you’re doing a political project.”

Larson says the Fair Districts Colorado plan would call for the new districts to be determined by a team of four democrats, four republicans and four unaffiliated people.

“I know redistricting is a kinda out there sort of thing,” Larson said. “But I think the fact that we’re including unaffiliated voters is going to be helpful in getting more people out to vote.”

Politics Unplugged airs Sunday at 4 p.m. on Denver7.
