DENVER -- A Colorado veteran is sharing the stories of more than 30 other veterans in a new book, The Color of Duty: Stories of Latinos in the American Military.

Jose Aguayo talked to veterans of World War II, and wars in Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East and Afghanistan in all branches of the military.

“I really felt this needed to be done because I read a lot of military history in my life and Hispanics are rarely mentioned and when they are mentioned it’s usually a very brief mention,” Aguayo told Anne Trujillo on this week’s Politics Unplugged.

Aguayo’s book shares stories from the battlefields as well as the home front.

“It really illustrates a really long, longstanding tradition among Hispanic or Latino families of loyalty and patriotism and service to our country,” Aguayo added.
