Students at Westminster High School are making a name for themselves with a new documentary called Medic! which shares the emotional stories of five combat medics.
The film was created as part of the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project, which preserves the personal accounts of American war veterans to help future generations better understand the realities of war.
Rep. Ed Perlmutter, D-Colorado, first approached the school about making the documentary last year. It is the fourth documentary for the Veterans History Project his office has been involved in, and the first where high school students were part of the project.
Chris Williams, the cinema arts teacher at Westminster High School, spearheaded the project at the school. In addition to film students, students from the school's IB history program and even the music department were involved.
Williams and Perlmutter talked about the project on this week's Politics Unplugged. They told Anne Trujillo how Medic! came about, how it impacted students and what's next for the program.
