DENVER – It’s been a busy week for politics, and on this weekend’s Politics Unplugged Denver Post columnist Krista Kafer and Blair Miller of TheDenverChannel.com joined Marc Stewart to discuss some of the bigger topics.
One of the bigger topics locally was the arrest of State Representative Lori Saine, R-Weld County, on charges she tried to get a gun through security at Denver International Airport.
“The criminal complaint we got earlier in the week said basically she knowingly put this thing through security,” said Miller adding the document did not have much more information than that. “But it’s clear the TSA agents saw the weapon in the x-ray machine and then they went through protocol from there.”
“It seems like there is really two options here. Either she made a mistake or she’s an international terrorist,” said Kafer. “I’m pretty sure she’s not a terrorist. I think she made a stupid mistake.”
The group also discussed the continual barrage of information about men accused of sexual misconduct, including the resignation of Sen. Al Franken (D-Minnesota). Kafer feels eventually this is going to change corporate culture.
“Heads are rolling. I think it’s a good thing,” Kafer said. “Here’s the deal -- you don’t kiss people who don’t want to be kissed. Don’t drop trow in front of people who don’t’ want that. Don’t touch people who don’t want to be touched. Don’t do photographs when you’re a U.S. senator of touching people’s body parts. It’s kinda a 'duh moment.' Didn't we learn this in kindergarten?”
