Police Officer Arrested In Child Porn Investigation

Josh Carrier Is 7-Year Veteran Of Colorado Springs Police Department

A police officer was arrested Wednesday for investigation of possession of child pornography.

Josh Carrier, 30, is a seven-year veteran of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The investigation began on March 28, when the department's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received information that Carrier may have made purchases from a child pornography website.

The information came from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations as a result of one of their investigations, according police.

A joint investigation is under way, conducted by Colorado Springs police and the El Paso County District Attorney's Office.

Carrier had a number of assignments that placed him in situations with youth, including working as a school resource officer at Horace Mann Elementary, a coach for the Police Athletic League and as an adviser to youth in the CSPD Explorer Scout program, police said.

"It is very early in the investigation and at this point. We have reason to believe that Carrier's activities are limited to the purchase of commercial child pornography photos," said Sgt. Steve Noblitt.
