It happened at the Copperstone Apartments on North Circle Drive.

Officers said when they talked to the woman's upstairs neighbor, the man admitted he had his loaded and cocked .45-caliber handgun in his lap while he was on the computer.

The man told police he was trying to lower the hammer while his finger was on the trigger.

The man said he thought the safety was engaged, however it was not and the gun fired into the floor, police said.

Anthony Cunningham, 25, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful discharge of a firearm.
