Police Investigate Fatal Head-On Car Accident In Aurora

1 Dead; 3 Others Sent To Hospital With Non-Life-Threatening Injuries

Aurora police are investigating a head-on crash that killed one person and sent three others to the hospital Thursday night.

Investigators said a Ford F-150 was traveling north near Potomac Street and East 6th Avenue, when it crossed the center line, hitting an Oldsmobile sedan traveling in the opposite direction.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver of the Oldsmobile sedan, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities said two passengers in the Oldsmobile sedan, an adult and child, and the pickup driver was hospitalized with injuries that are not life-threatening.

The crash occurred around 5:40 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the Ford F-150 in the middle of Potomac Street. Its left-front portion was badly damaged. Also, the Oldsmobile was found on the west sidewalk with severe damage to its front.

It is unknown at this time if speed or alcohol were factors in the accident, police said. The Aurora Police Department Traffic Bureau will continue its investigation into the cause of the accident.

Police have not released the names of the individuals involved in the crash.
