Denver and Lakewood police are looking for two men believed to have robbed at least five businesses. They steal cash from the registers, but they also steal cookies and candy bars -- so police have given them the nickname "Crummy Cookies Bandits."In one case, the men shot a convenience store clerk in the face and kept shooting at her while she was running away, police said.Police said the two men walked into a 7-Eleven on West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood at 6:25 p.m. on Nov. 23.One man bought a candy bar, but when the clerk opened the cash register to put the money in, the robber jumped the counter and pointed a BB gun at the clerk's face, police said.Investigators said a second man armed with a BB gun came up to the counter and helped the first man take money from the register. When the clerk tried to reason with the men, the candy bar buyer shot her in the face, police said."Colorado law makes no distinction that it's a BB gun. If I put you in fear of your life and later we find that it's a BB gun, that's too bad for me," said Steve Davis, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department. "I take the same punishment as if I used a real gun."Officers said as the clerk ran to the storage room, the suspects continued to shoot at her.Police did not release her condition, but they did say the men took the money and got away."These guys are very desperate - that's obvious," said Davis.Denver police said the men are also suspected of robbing Subway restaurants, Little Caesars pizzerias, a 7-Eleven and a Blockbuster in Denver. The Denver robberies occurred on Nov. 20, Nov. 21, Nov. 23, Nov. 27 and Nov. 30. All of the robberies occurred between 6 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.In each case, Denver police said the men would buy something and when the clerk opened the cash register, the men would pull out guns and take money from the register. The robbers are described as black men, 22 to 26 years old. Both men are about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. One man has a shaved head, the other has short hair with earrings in both ears.If you recognize the men, please call the Denver Police Department's robbery unit at 720-913-6378.
