Authorities have arrested two people in connection with the burglary of a home that had been evacuated due to the Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs.

According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation on Thursday, agents caught 38-year-old Belinda Wells-Yates and 36-year-old Shane Garrett with the help of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and the Monument Police Department.

CBI agents said they were working on the case based on information from an unrelated identity theft incident.

The suspects were also caught with methamphetamines when they were arrested in Monument, according to the CBI.

They're being held in the El Paso County Jail on several charges including suspicion of second degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, and theft by receiving.

The CBI said they're looking into whether other evacuated homes were targeted by Wells-Yates and Garrett.
