Father Says Micayla Medek Was 'Precious Soul'

Woman Killed In Mass Shooting At Aurora Theather

The father of Micayla Medek, one of the 12 people killed in the Aurora movie theater shooting, said she was a "precious soul," who was saving money for a trip to India.

At 23, she lived in Westminster, Colo., and attended Aurora Community College.

She worked at a Subway and was planning the trip to visit the homeland of some of her co-workers, reported the Los Angeles Times. Her father, Greg Medek, 49, told the newspaper Micayla loved Hello Kitty, hot pink and Beanie Babies.

At her funeral service, mourners wore pink ribbons, some with Hello Kitty faces on them, in honor of her fondness for the color and the character.

Medek was the youngest of three children.

Anita Busch, Greg Medek’s cousin, said the news of Micayla’s death was heartbreaking.

"I hope this evil act ... doesn't shake people's faith in God," she said.
