LOVELAND SKI AREA, Colo. – Loveland Ski Area has a fluffy new friend to romp around on the mountains after it lost its former dog in May.

The ski area introduced Parker the Snow Dog as Loveland’s new snow dog on Monday. He’s 11 months old and will be helping out during snowmaking season and at Loveland Ski Area events across the Front Range.

Parker, who is an 11-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog, replaces Toby the Bernese Mountain Dog, who died unexpectedly in May. Toby was a favorite across the Front Range and often donned Broncos regalia, as he was a huge fan of Von Miller’s.

Parker is also in the care of Dustin Schaefer, who cared for Toby for three years before his death.

Parker only had one comment to offer about his new gig: “Only 88 days till snowmaking!”

Loveland Ski Area says it hopes to open sometime in mid-to-late October.
