Two girls kidnapped in Michigan after the murder of their mother and another relative have been found safe in Colorado.

An Amber Alert was issued for 4-year-old Nova and 3-year-old Luna Perez and their biological father, Alex Perez, after two people were found dead Thursday.

Around 1:09 a.m. on Friday, Patrol Deputy Paul Osckel of the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office said he found a parked vehicle with its lights on and engine running in Georgetown. Deputy Osckel said he saw an adult man in the driver’s seat and two young children in the passenger compartment.

When Deputy Osckel radioed dispatch with the vehicle’s license plate, he was told there was a felony warrant from Michigan State Patrol for the vehicle, and a male suspect, Alex Perez, in a Double Homicide, Parental Kidnapping, and Amber Alert.

Perez was taken into custody after a brief struggle at the scene, deputies said.

The children were taken into protective custody unharmed and are being cared for.

ABC 57 News told Denver7 the victims in the double homicide were the girl's mother and another relative.
