IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. - A man has been arrested in Idaho Springs in connection with a hit-and-run that injured a man changing a tire on Interstate 70 Tuesday evening.
Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper Nate Reid said a man was changing a flat tire on the side of eastbound I-70 in Idaho Springs at about 5:15 p.m. when another driver hit the disabled car, knocking it into the man.
The victim was treated for minor to moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, the hit-an-run suspect kept driving until he reached his home on Virginia Canyon Road near Virginia Street in Idaho Springs, Reid said.
When law enforcement officers knocked on the suspect's door, he wouldn't answer and refused to come out for more than two hours, Reid said.
The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office SWAT team arrived and was about to enter the house when the man surrendered about 8:45 p.m., Reid said.
The man was arrested and taken to the Clear Creek County Jail. His name was not released.
