SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. -- Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is the first ski area to open for the 2016-17 ski season in Colorado.
A-Basin opened at 9 a.m. Friday.
"We’ve been fortunate to have optimal conditions for our snowmaking team to get a base on the High Noon trail, and offer our guests skiing and snowboarding in October," said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin Chief Operating Officer.
There was one intermediate run open on Friday at Arapahoe Basin. The High Noon Trail is accessible via the Black Mountain Express lift.
Tickets for opening day through December 16 are $76 for adults, $64 for youth ages 15 to 18 and $38 for kids ages 6 to 14.
Arapahoe Basin and Loveland both opened on the same day last year -- October 29.
