Motorcycle Officer Hit By Lightning

Longmont Officer Struck On Ken Pratt Blvd.

A Longmont police officer was hit by lightning on Tuesday afternoon.

The officer was standing by his motorcycle on Ken Pratt Boulevard east of Main Street with a radar gun working speed enforcement when he was struck, according to Commander Jeff Satur with the Longmont Police Department.

The officer was knocked off his feet.

Satur said after the officer was hit, he was able to get back up and run under the nearby Lefthand Creek bridge for cover.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition has not been released.
