A 45-year-old Denver preschool teacher is accused by federal authorities of distribution of child pornography.The U.S. Attorney's Office said David Moe is a longtime preschool teacher at Paddington Station in East Denver and has been a director there since 2005.According to the facts contained in the affidavit associated with the criminal complaint, law enforcement, acting in an undercover capacity, observed child pornography available for downloading on another computer that was using peer-to-peer software to share files. As the investigation continued, a search warrant was obtained and executed on Tuesday. Moe was the sole occupant of the residence where the warrant was served."Preliminary forensic examination has thus far yielded child pornography both on Moes computer and on DVDs/CDs that were located at the residence," a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office stated. "In conjunction with the execution of a search warrant, it was determined that Moe used the Internet to make available, trade, and collect images of child pornography. It was also determined that he has been a teacher at Paddington Station for the last 18 years. Agents and officers learned that there was one allegation of inappropriate contact with a child approximately 10 years ago. Nothing was proven."Moe is charged with one count of distribution and attempted distribution of child pornography, which carries a penalty of not less than 5 years, and not more than 20 years in federal prison, as well as a fine of up to $250,000.The defendant is also charged with possession of child pornography, which carries a penalty of not more than 10 years in federal prison, and a fine of up to $250,000.This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcements Homeland Security Investigations. We will cooperate with the investigating authorities and assist them in any way that we can.
