Two hours after the initial report, rumors were swirling but Barnes said officers were going to continue to treat the situation very seriously. "We're going to believe that this is a weapon until we prove otherwise," he said.
Thornton Police told 7NEWS they are "methodically" searching the area inside and outside the school.
