YMCA of the Rockies Camp Chief Ouray reopening after virus outbreak sickened dozens

GRANBY, Colo. - A popular YMCA children's camp in Granby will reopen Sunday after being closed due to a virus that sickened dozens of campers and staff members.

"Camp Chief Ouray has gotten approval from the state Health Department to re-open to campers on Sunday," according to Martha Sortland, spokeswoman for YMCA of the Rockies.

Camp Chief Ouray canceled its camp scheduled for this week after 11 percent of its campers and 17 percent of its staff camp down with flu-like symptoms, possibly norovirus, last week.

The Grand County Public Health Department said 45 campers and staff members got sick.
