Xcel Energy offers Nederland residents $50 each, if they had multiple or long power outages

NEDERLAND, Colo. - Xcel Energy is apologizing and offering $50 refunds to Nederland residents following a winter of widespread electrical outages related to a large-scale power line replacement project.

Residents who attended a Nederland Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday were asked to turn in claims for their power problems.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, residents say outages have been taking place without warning once or twice a week and they sometimes last for hours.

The town's 1,100 customers are each being offered $50 if they experienced five outages of five minutes or more or one outage of 24 hours or greater.
