WOODLAND PARK, Colo. - The Mayor of Woodland Park was arrested early Friday morning on a sex assault charge.
The Woodland Park Police Department issued a statement saying that David J. Turley was arrested for sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
Turley was booked into the Teller County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000, police said.
Police said they are only aware of one victim in this case, but did not release any other details.
Officials did say the case was investigated by the Woodland Park Police Department with assistance from the Colorado Springs Police Department and the Teller County Department of Social Services.
Woodland Park is about 20 miles west of Colorado Springs.
Turley was elected mayor in April 2012.
