AURORA, Colo. - A woman was shot to death late Friday night in Aurora and a suspect is under arrest following a standoff.

The shooting happened in the 2300 block of Emporia Street around 11 p.m., police said.

Police found a woman who had been shot several times and who was not breathing.  She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police learned of a possible suspect who is a neighbor living a few houses away.  He refused to come out and a 2-hour standoff ensued before he surrendered early Saturday morning.

Police believe the suspect and the victim knew each other but have not released a motive in the slaying.

The identifications of the victim  and the suspect have not been released.
