Woman paralyzed in deputy-involved shooting sentenced to 6 years

CENTENNIAL, Colo. - A woman who was paralyzed when she was shot by a deputy sheriff has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Britney Thurman was driving a stolen truck in 2009 when she tried to speed off. Jefferson County deputy Art Peterson was on foot and shot the woman when she refused to stop.
Peterson identified himself as a police officer and got his arm caught in the truck as the woman took off.
Peterson fired two shots through the door of the truck, severing Thurman's spine.
