Winter storm warning: Accumulation expected for Front Range and Denver Metro Area

Winter Storm Watch cancelled

DENVER - The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow, which is in effect from 6 a.m. Sunday to noon Monday for the Front Range urban corridor

The previous winter storm watch is no longer in effect.

A strong storm system will move into the great basin Saturday night and move slowly eastward across Colorado Sunday night and Monday morning.

Rain and mountain snow will develop over northern Colorado and Wyoming Saturday night as the storm approaches Colorado. A surge of colder air is then expected to move over northeast Colorado Sunday morning, bringing snow levels from the higher Foothill locations down to the I-25 urban corridor. On the plains, snowfall amounts may greatly vary depending on when the rain changes to snow. At this time the changeover will most likely occur by mid to late morning along the I-25 urban corridor and then late Sunday afternoon or evening on the eastern plains.
