BENT COUNTY, Colo. - A wildfire burned 100-120 acres in Bent County in Southern Colorado Thursday night.
The fire started around 7:45 p.m. just outside the old Fort Lyon Correctional Facility in Las Animas. The prison closed last year.
However, roads around the prison acted as a natural fire break, helping firefighters, according to Rick Stwalley, emergency manager for Bent County.
The fire burned between the prison property and the Arkansas River.
Stwalley said firefighters were able to contain the fire around midnight.
There's no word yet on what caused the fire.
