LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. - Firefighters battled  a 3-acre wildland fire in the Big Thompson Canyon near Alexander Mountain.

Approximately 20 firefighters responded. They continued to work on the fire Thursday evening, but will not spend the night on scene. Twelve firefighters are expected to continue suppression efforts Friday morning. Containment is estimated for 11 a.m. Friday.

A helicopter is expected on the fire mid-day tomorrow to aid firefighters, said Reghan Cloudman, Public Affairs Officer for the Roosevelt National Forest. 

Merlin Green, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority Division Chief, said the first call on the fire came in just before 2 p.m. on Thursday.
