Wife still missing after Sterling man's body found

Officials continue search for Shirley Severance

STERLING, Colo. - Police in Sterling are looking for the 70-year-old wife of a man found dead in their home Thursday.

Police said they responded to a medical call at the home at 409 S. Third Ave., on May 29, and found 70-year-old Charles Roger Severance dead.  His wife, Shirley Anne Severance, was missing.

A press release stated that the police launched "an extensive investigation into the cause of death of Charles Severance and the whereabouts of Shirley Severance." 

"We're very concerned about her safety," Major Scott Annable told 7NEWS on Saturday. He said the couple's car was still at the home and the wife doesn't drive.

Shirley Severance is described as 5 feet tall and weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The release states officials are looking for her for questioning and that they want to verify her well-being.

Police have not said how Charles Severance died but a press release stated, "Current assessment of the investigation and evidence does not indicate any overt threats or public safety concerns."
