DENVER -- The GLBT Center of Colorado is getting ready for the 42nd pride parade.

Denver PrideFest will take place on Saturday and Sunday in Civic Center Park. Thousands of people are expected to attend throughout the weekend.

Organizers are encouraging you to pack light if you plan on going.

"Everyone who is coming to the festival is subject to a bag search," said Rex Fuller of GLBT Center of Colorado. "We do not allow coolers in the festival and we don't allow outside alcohol, only factory sealed and non-alcohol beverages in the park."

Pride Week will wrap up with the big parade on Sunday. The event is estimated to attract around 380,000 people. The center is working closely with Denver Police to make sure everyone stays safe during the event.

"We have a pretty robust safety plan that we've developed in cooperation with those agencies, to make sure that everyone participating is safe, and that we're also inspecting all the floats to in making sure the parade route itself is safe," Fuller said.
