Weld County SWAT team takes murder suspect into custody

GARDEN CITY, Colo. - Deputies spotted a murder suspect Friday morning and tracked him to an apartment, where the SWAT team arrested him.

Noel Garcia, 19, was seen along the 600 block of 26th Street in Garden City by Weld County Sheriff's deputies. They followed him to a nearby apartment, but requested the SWAT team backup when they could not arrest him immediately.

Court records show Garcia was wanted for allegedly escaping from the conditions of his felony conviction on Nov. 19.

He also faces murder, assault and armed burglary charges filed on March 28 in reference to crimes that allegedly occurred on Aug. 15, records show. A second warrant was issued for his arrest in that case after the charges were filed.

The SWAT team was able to take Garcia into custody without incident at 6:30 a.m. He was taken into custody for the outstanding warrants, failure to comply and failure to appear.

The Greeley Police Department has asked 7NEWS not to publish Garcia's mug shot because of an ongoing investigation.
