Water main break turns Denver street into sheet of ice

Denver - A water line burst early Monday sending water rushing down streets around West 9th Ave. and Lowell Boulevard.

Denver police were alerted to the main break around 2:45 a.m. and  water were called around 3:25 a.m.

The basements of two homes flooded. Two cars were also flooded ,according to Denver Water Spokesperson Travis Thompson.

Crews turned off water to the 12 inch line around 4 a.m.

Public works crews were called out to sand the roads, which were covered in ice.

Crews restored water service to 28 buildings by 1:30 p.m.
