HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Law enforcement often warns DO NOT leave your purse unattended while you shop!

New video the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office posted to its Facebook page shows us exactly why they give that warning.

The surveillance video from the Whole Foods Market at 9366 S. Colorado Blvd shows a man standing next to a basket while two women shop nearby with their backs turned to him.

Deputies say the victim was being distracted by the woman to her right while the man went through her open purse and took her wallet.

They say the second man, seen pushing the basket, was also involved in the theft.

This happened on June 26.

Investigators say the victim’s wallet was used for several purchases totaling $2,500.

Anyone with information about this theft, or the identities of the suspects seen in this video are asked to call Specialist Karen Jensen at 303-663-7248, or email her at kjensen@dcsheriff.net.

This is the second time this type of theft has happened in Douglas County in the last month.
