DENVER - Volunteers are needed Tuesday afternoon to help the Food Bank of the Rockies and the Denver Fire Department.
The Friends of the Denver Fire Department is asking people to come help them pack up leftover food from a large convention.
They expect to fill 14 semi-trucks, according to Laura Douglas with the FDFD.
The food will be distributed throughout the region by Food Bank of the Rockies.
An anonymous donor approached the food bank and offered to contribute $10,000 to the Denver Fire Department if they can get enough volunteers to show up.
Volunteers are asked to attend a brief orientation at the Colorado Convention Center at 1:30 p.m. It will be held in room 704.
Volunteers must be 16 or older, and should wear work clothes and closed-toe shoes.
The packing effort is expected to continue until 4:30 p.m.
