JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released a video Friday it says may contain a clue to an incident that prompted a shelter-in-place order earlier in the morning.

The incident centers around several reports of gun shots being fired near C-470 and Ken Caryl Avenue that came into the office around 6:30 a.m.

Deputies closed roads and asked nearby residents to shelter in place as they tried to locate a suspect. Nearby schools were also placed on a lockout status as a precaution.

Around 10 a.m., the lockouts were lifted, and residents were given the all-clear. However, deputies were not able to locate a suspect or confirm any shots were fired.

The video the sheriff’s office posted to YouTube shows a person in the upper left corner getting into a silver car while over a dozen shots are heard in the background.

Deputies would like to talk to the person in the video below, who they say may be a possible witness. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 303-277-0211.
