GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Security for Vice President Joe Biden's trip to Snowmass Village over Presidents Day weekend cost Grand Junction Police an estimated $5,000 in overtime.

Police spokeswoman Kate Porras tells The Daily Sentinel (http://bit.ly/Vw52mG ) the city committed 26 officers who worked 154 hours to supplement security for a motorcade associated with Biden's arrival at Grand Junction Regional Airport on Feb. 14 and his departure last Monday.

Porras says most of the work involved traffic control.

Final costs won't be known until officers hand in overtime slips, but she estimates 102 of the 154 hours committed were overtime.

The police department doesn't plan to seek reimbursement. The officers were provided after the U.S. Secret Service requested assistance.
