U.S. 85 is now reopened north of Sedalia after a major natural gas line ruptured.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said the gas line was cut by a contractor who was doing work for a reconstruction and widening project.

CDOT said the highway was closed from mile marker 190 to 196 at about 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday. It reopened around 3:20 p.m. after the leak was stopped.

Sedalia is nine miles west of Castle Rock and eight south of Chatfield State Park.
