US 36 closed overnight at Sheridan this week for bridge removal

WESTMINSTER - U.S. 36 will be closed each night this week at Sheridan Boulevard for bridge demolition.

Over the weekend, construction crews moved traffic from the old Sheridan bridge over U.S. 36 to the new bridge.

This week, crews will remove the old bridge.

That work will close U.S. 36 at Sheridan Blvd. Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

The highway will also be closed Friday night into Saturday from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

During the demolition, traffic will use the U.S. 36 on- and off-ramps at Sheridan Boulevard as the detour.

After the existing bridge is demolished, crews will begin building the remaining portion of the Sheridan Boulevard bridge.

The final Sheridan Boulevard bridge will have an additional northbound lane and double left turn lanes in each direction. It will be open in final configuration in the fall.
