BOULDER, Colo. - Three CU students have been ticketed for climbing a construction crane at the school, according to campus police.

Officers said they spotted the students about 75 feet up on the crane Friday night around 10 p.m.

All three had been drinking and were intoxicated, according to Ryan Huff with the University of Colorado Police Department.

Huff said the three students are rock climbers who managed to climb over a barrier around the crane, then up the side of the crane.

The students climbed down after officers asked them to.

The students, all 19 years old, were ticketed for criminal mischief and trespassing and released.

Huff said police watch the cranes because a student climbed one in 2005, then fell and died.
