Unexpected turbulence hits Alaska Airlines flight from Denver International Airport to Seattle

DENVER - A plane flying from Denver to Seattle on Friday morning hit unexpected turbulence that sent cell phones, sunglasses and other items flying.

Flight 679 left Denver International Airport shortly after 8:30 a.m. It hit major turbulence about five minutes later, according to a 7NEWS employee on the flight.

A captain told passengers the turbulence was unexpected and occurred without warning, our employee said.

The plane landed safely at the Seattle airport about three hours later. First-responders met the plane to check passengers for possible injuries.
