DENVER — A group of Colorado musicians is coming together to pay tribute to a teen killed by the impacts of cyberbullying.
Harmony: A Colorado Chorale, an all-inclusive LGBTQ chorus, and Sine Nomine will perform "Tyler's Suite" on Friday and Saturday nights.
The performances are dedicated to Tyler Clementi, a young musician who committed suicide in 2010 after being bullied by his roommate during his first weeks of college. His death brought nationwide attention to the issue of cyberbullying and the struggles facing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
Tyler's Suite will be performed Friday May 5 and Saturday May 6. The performance is at Broomfield Auditorium on Friday and Denver Central Presbyterian Church on Saturday. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and $5 from each ticket sold will be donated to the Tyler Clementi Foundation.
Tyler's mother, Jane Clementi, will be speaking before the performance on Saturday. She has become an advocate to stop all forms of bullying. Jane will be among other speakers attending to share resources in the Denver area for people dealing with the impacts of bullying.
