BERTHOUD, Colo. -
Two people were killed Friday night in a two-car crash in Berthoud.
Police said the crash happened just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 287 and County Road 8.
Police said a 1994 Toyota Corolla, driven by an 18-year-old Denver woman was traveling southbound on Highway 287 and turned left onto County Road 8 in front of a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. The two vehicles collided, ejecting one of three passengers from the Tahoe who was not wearing a seat belt.
The 18-year-old female driver of the Corolla and a 20-year-old male passenger from Silt, Colo., died as a result of the crash.
The impact knocked the Tahoe into a nearby field, about 200 feet off the road. Four people in that vehicle received minor injuries.
"It is not believed that drugs or alcohol were involved by the driver of the Tahoe, but may have been a factor with the driver of the Corolla," police said in a news release.
The investigation was continuing Saturday and the names of the two victims have not yet been released.
