WELD COUNTY, Colo. - The man who sold a vehicle and the man who bought it are both under arrest after a dispute over missed payments.
The Weld County Sheriff's Office said Pedro De La Cruz called deputies on Monday night and said someone stole his truck outside Evans. He said the thief punched him in the face and pointed a gun at him when he tried to stop him.
Investigators said they identified and found the so-called "suspect." However, when investigators interviewed Javier Francisco Gayton he said he sold the truck to De La Cruz and when De La Cruz missed payments, Gayton took the truck back.
Both men agree that a physical disturbance of some kind happened, but it's not clear if a weapon was involved or not, investigators said.
Both men were arrested. De La Cruz was arrested on suspicion of attempting to influence a public official and Gayton was arrested on suspicion of menacing, assault and other unrelated charges.
