DENVER - A toddler who was killed when a car backed over him in Denver's Harvey Park neighborhood Wednesday night, has been identified by the coroner's office as Justin Thai.
The 2-year-old was struck after he ran behind the car as his father was backing out of their driveway in the 2400 block of South Utica Street, authorities said.
Justin was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Denver Police are calling the incident a tragic accident.
"We are unbelievably sad and broken hearted over the death of our beloved son," the family said Thursday through a spokesman, the Rev. Joseph Tung Dang. "He was such a blessing."
"He was a quiet child -- almost 3," said Dang. "Bright face. Beautiful child. A gift from God."
Dang said Justin's father is devastated and blames himself for the accident.
"This is going to eat him up for the rest of his life. No parent wants to do this," he said.
No charges have been filed.
