Thunderstorm moves thru Denver metro area from Foothills, move on

DENVER - Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorm that formed rapidly over Kittredge, or 18 miles west of Denver. This storm was moving east at 25 mph at 5 p.m.

Half-inch diameter hail, winds in excess of 30 mph and heavy rainfall will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include: southwestern Denver, Lakewood, southwestern littleton, southern wheat ridge, Golden, Evergreen, Morrison, Floyd Hill,  Brookvale, Idledale, Tiny Town, Bergen Park, Kittredge, Red Rocks Park, Indian Hills and Aspen Park.

Instructions:       frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 15 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Target Area: Boulder And Jefferson Counties Below 6000 Feet, West Broomfield, Jefferson and West Douglas counties Above 6000 Feet, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Northeast Park Counties Below 9000 Feet.
