A woman rescued a girl being sexually assaulted in a parking lot in Thornton. Now police are asking for help finding the suspect.

The woman and two girls had just left a dance class on West 84th Avenue near Greenwood Boulevard and were walking to their car on Wednesday, Dec. 16, police said.

The girls reached the car first and got in the back seat. Before the woman reached the car, a man got in the back seat and started attacking one of the girls, police said.

The woman was able to pull the girls out of the vehicle and the man ran off.

Witnesses told police the suspect had been loitering in the area for most of the day. Witnesses said the suspect stated that he had traveled from Miami, Florida to Colorado in search of work, and was staying with friends in the area.

The victim helped investigators come up with a sketch of the man.

He was described as Hispanic, with acne scars on his face and a very thin chin-strap style beard and a fresh fade haircut that was flat on top. He is about 5-foot-10 and weighs 160-180 pounds, the victim said.

The suspect had several tattoos on both hands and arms, with a distinctive cross on one forearm (see photo above.)
