Prosecutors have charged a Thornton man with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife.
The Denver Post reports (http://goo.gl/VHylNW ) 50-year-old Hector Frias was charged Monday in the Dec. 20 death of 48-year-old Norma Frias. Deputies found the woman shot in the head in her husband's SUV after they were called to a fender bender.
Investigators say Hector Frias was found several hours later drunk and covered in blood.
According to an arrest affidavit, he told investigators, "It's my fault. I did it, but it was an accident."
He is being held in Adams County without bail. A woman who answered the phone at the jail said she could not say whether he has hired an attorney. A spokesman for the sheriff's department did not immediately return a call Monday evening.
