Thornton High School threat 'not credible'

THORNTON, Colo. - Adams 12 Five Star Schools said a threat at Thornton High School Monday was not credible.

"There was an unconfirmed threat," Melissa Hoelting with Adams 12 Five Star Schools told 7NEWS. "Police investigated and they said it was not credible."

Thornton police spokesman Matt Barnes told 7NEWS the school was placed on lockdown after a caller reported a "party with a gun near campus."

However, Hoelting said the school was not placed on lockdown or lockout and there was no search of the school, despite what police had told 7NEWS earlier.

Barnes said the tipster hung up after stating the person had a gun, so police couldn’t follow up on the tip.
